Amy Hillberg's update
Hmmm...the last 10 years...
The year after CBC I did an internship at a Covenant Church just north of Seattle. I learned alot and LOVED living in such a beautiful part of country. The other intern and I would spend our days off hiking the mountain trails near the beach and taking the fairy to the San Juan islands. So fun!
In January '98 I moved to West Palm Beach, FL to be with my family (my parents moved here to pastor the Covenant Church in Royal Palm Beach). I only intended to stay for a year or two to save up money for school (I was going to go to North Park). Then I started working for Youth for Christ and really liked it. I've been on staff now for 7.5 years! I started as the Office Manager, and have worn a number of different hats. It's been a great place for me to learn about ministry and has really challenged me to grow deeply in my relationship with Jesus. Such a blessing!
After struggling for years to figure out what I wanted to do, I finally started back to school in the fall to study Graphic Design. I love it! It's the best decision I could've made. I'm constantly challenged to be more creative and think outside the box. It pushes me out of my comfort zone on a regular basis. The best part is that I get to use what I'm learning at school in my new role as YFC's Visual Communication Coordinator. I handle all the brochures, newsletters, website, etc. I also recruit, train and place new volunteers for the ministry.
I'm still single (so you guys can pray about that for me!) but I have a WONDERFUL church family and a great group of friends that I love to spend time with.
I still love to sing and do so with a GREAT worship band at church - they're great musicians and I feel honored that they let me serve with them! And I sing and play guitar for the student ministry at church as well. So life is good - very full! :)
The best is that God has been so faithful and draws me closer to Him all the time. My home is always open to anyone who wants to come hang at the beach!!! Hope to see you soon!
